FEAR CULT DOLL #1:

One of the coolest things to ever appear in the P.O.Box was this 6 inch Matt Riser doll. Hand crafted with an amazing accuracy and attention to detail.  Dressed in the outfit that I was wearing at the July, 20th Whisky a Go-Go concert.  The doll makers name was "Janelle".

FEAR CULT DOLL #2:

Shortly after our elaborate carnival performance at Coven 13, another M. Riser Doll arrived in the mail. Once again crafted with an uncanny sense of detail. This doll captured my "Sideshow Ring Leader" outfit down to the skull and cross bone broach on my lapel.

FEAR CULT AT RELEASE THE BATS:

Here is the original set list to our "first ever west coast performance" at Release the Bats. The song "Sick" has been performed live multiple times but never officially released.

FEAR CULT DEMO / PRESS KIT #1:

This was the demo / press kit we sent out when we were searching for a recording contract.  It contained a photo set, 10 page booklet with bio, media coverage, recent performances, discography and other curiosities.  Also it contained a the CD-R home-studio demo of the following songs: She Loves Me Not, Severina, Gorgeous Shade of Red, Drop Dead, and Sleepless Nights.  Some of the demo kits also contained a VHS video (montage of live footage) for "What Is a Sin". demobooklet.gif (25958 bytes)

FEAR CULT DEMO / PRESS KIT #2:

This press kit was distributed to magazines and a few foreign record labels after the recording of "Visionary Complex" was complete.  It included a sample CD of the new recordings as well as a bio booklet and a CD-R with a full screen MPEG video (composed of footage from various live performances) for "Drop Dead".

FIRST MUSIC REVIEW:

The first Fear Cult music review appeared in issue #16 of the Australian gothic / alternitive magazine "Dark Angel".  Here is the review in it's entirety:

FEAR CULT
"A Bouquet Of Songs"
(Sanctuary Music)

[See also "Strange Occurrences" at the begining of the mag for further details] This is the synthesised Gothic solo Project from Matt Riser in Arizona; a 12 track cassette of haunting atmospheric, electronic harmonics and darkly brooding, rough diamond vocals.  With a flavour of opiate night visions. lit by candles and scented with hazy blue incense, "A Bouquet Of Songs" is bitter sweet and taunting in its raw openess.  Standout tracks include title track "A Bouquet Of Songs", "Love You More", "Necromance" and "Isn't It Strange" and the standout lyric-line of the cassette is the angrily spat out "Can't your tell by the way I'm dressed, I am so fucking depressed...".  Spided with its own individual flavour, "Bouquet..." is woth writing away for.  Check it out.

FLIER FOR FIRST FEAR CULT LIVE PERFORMANCE:

This is a flier for the first ever Fear Cult live performance.  The show was a benefit for the Humane Society of Tucson. Club 2520 was forced to close a few weeks before the concert and the show was then moved to another club called "Stone wall".

Note: A few years later when the Fine Line nightclub (long time gothic club) was torn down, it reopened briefly in the old 2520 location.
